Riverside Pool – Windsor, Ontario
Originally constructed in 1967 Riverside Centennial Pool consisted of a conventional lap swimming pool with an attached diving well. After more than 40 years of service plans were put in motion to replace the aged pool. Working closely with Archon Architects Incorporated this design continues the City`s program to update conventional facilities with multi-use pools combining creative elements for recreation and exploration, with quality swimming and lifesaving training. Lap swimming is now combined with a beach entry with floor jets, themed soft surface islands, a water curtain and floating creatures. Distinct areas of varying depth and character are created by the sloping floor and freeform shape. Swimmers of all ages can find new adventures and landscapes to pique their interest. Provisions were incorporated into the project for the addition of major water slide in the future.
